Are you a young African creative with ideas to transform and grow opportunities for youth in the creative sector? Do you aspire to drive meaningful change that could accelerate the sector's growth?

Caribou Digital, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation, invites you to join us as an advisor for an exciting mission: to advocate for meaningful change by championing strategies that can build the sector and expand opportunities for youth. Your lived experience and expertise as a young creative is what will shape the conversations and inform strategies. The initiative is also designed to honor, celebrate, and recognize the talent and resilience of young creatives across Africa through participatory research.

This is a paid engagement with fair compensation for your time and expertise.

As a member of the Advisory Group, you and Caribou Digital will work together to:

  • Shape the project by defining the scope, agenda, strategy, and overall vision of the initiative.
  • Shape the research that seeks to highlight the challenges, opportunities, and success stories within the African creative sector.
  • Determine the final outputs of the project, ensuring they reflect the needs and aspirations of young creatives like you.
  • Advocate for policies and practices that accelerate the growth of the creative industry in Africa through the outputs produced.

Who can apply to join as an advisor?

If you are a dynamic individual, aged 18-35, from any of these sectors and others—visual art, music, performance, audio-visual, publications, fashion, gaming, digital content creation who:

  • Is from and currently lives in any African country.
  • Has created anything – music, memes, fashion, films, games, art, podcasts, name it, for at least one year.
  • Can communicate, interact, and build relationships with others.
  • Enjoys collaborating and co-creating.
  • Is open-minded and respects diverse perspectives.
  • Can commit to devoting time.
  • Is able to communicate in English, we do encourage applicants from non Anglophone countries that have english level.

How much time do we require of you

  • If you join us, we will work together for two months, meeting virtually at least two times every week during this period. Each session will last no more than two hours.
